Stairways in Hong Kong

A good pair of shoes can take you to many places.  This is especially true for Hong Kong, which is famous for its steep stairways and walkways because of its many hills and slopes.  In fact, it boasts the longest covered outdoor escalator (measuring 800 metres or 2600 ft in length and about 400 ft in elevation) to shuffle residents back and forth between the business district on Hong Kong side and the hilly Mid-levels where many people reside.

As my parents’ home are on the Mid-level, I walk up and down the stairs as well as the escalator system almost everyday.  They offer extremely interesting sightseeing either during the day or at night.  You never know what you will see on your way.
