In California, we are blessed with the variety of fruits and vegetables grown all-year round. My eyes and taste buds had a feast this morning when I meandered around the local farmer’s market at the Ferry building in San Francisco. Happily I figured out what lunch would be.
First, I tried some blood oranges as the citrus season has kicked off.
Then onto some apple sauce – yummy and not too sweet!
Tried some spicy cheese from Petaluma today!
And got attracted by some Asian pears…
Then found my favourite spot of falafel with eggplant and garlic dip.
Smelled some lavender…
Then tasted some probiotic local made yogurt – honeydew melon-flavoured – so delicious!
Bought some purple potatoes – healthy and nutty!
And finally ended up with my staples – kale and cilantro.
I made some split pea on a bed of kale, tossed with garlic, lemon juice, cilantro and pepitas and olive oil.
